One of the barriers for the development of affordable housing is access to affordable land to build on. The Town is looking at their inventory of municipally-owned lands to identify parcels that could be developed to increase the housing supply, especially for projects that include affordable options.

The Town of Bridgwater has already identified one potential parcel, a large piece of centrally located greenfield land that we would like to make available to support the development of new homes.

This initiative will create a strategy and program to make this parcel of land available for non-profit and private sector housing development that will provide a diversity of housing types.

More than just building homes, this initiative will create a new community within Bridgewater. The intention is for this area to be thoughtfully designed to improve walkability and access to amenities, creating more opportunities to live, work, and play in a vibrant and connected neighbourhood. Stay tuned for more information!
