Let's Talk Housing!

Like many communities across Canada, Bridgewater is experiencing housing challenges as the community continues to grow. The Town is focusing on strategic actions to make more housing available in the town to meet the needs of residents, today and in the future.

In December 2024, the Town of Bridgewater entered into an agreement with the federal government under the Housing Accelerator Fun (HAF). The Town is eligible to receive over $3.3 million in funding from the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) through the HAF to accelerate housing supply and affordability in the community. The HAF is a federal initiative designed to assist municipalities in making changes that speed up the construction of new housing, from changes to planning regulations to the creation of new grant and incentive programs.

The Town of Bridgewater has committed to 5 initiatives with their HAF funding:

Each initiative has its own page where you can learn more about what's proposed (simply click "I want to learn more!") and you can share your feedback.

Together, these 5 strategic initiatives are aiming to accelerate the construction of a total of 365 homes over the next three-years.
